Grace Kelly is a ceramic sculptor and educator based in New Orleans, with roots in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She earned her BFA in Sculpture from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2012 and has worked extensively with steel and clay. Over the past four years, Grace has dedicated herself to teaching at a community studio while honing her focus on ceramic sculpture.
Her work employs clay as the primary medium to explore themes of balance and resurgence. Through the creation of architectural forms infused with biological movement, she captures the dynamic interplay between structure and growth. The delicate slabs peeling away from her pieces reflect the natural, uncontrollable transformations that occur during firing, symbolizing nature’s resilience and vitality in contrast to the rigidity of architecture. Grace Kelly’s innovative approach celebrates the organic beauty of clay’s spontaneous movement, resulting in sculptures that evoke a sense of continual evolution and natural rebirth.
